Why the Left Hates and Fears Sarah Palin

24 November 2009

Many of the readers here and my friends in general are conservative types. Like homosexuality and being a Cubs Fan, it is a choice and they can change it if they want to. There are re-education camps for all three, though it only works on one.

We, the left, have many problems with the .6824093086926760 term former Alaskan governor; I will try to address most of them today.

We never have a problem with a smart politician who can explain their positions and why they should be an office holder (Reagan, Bush I & McCain). We disagree with their politics but hey, you guys do too. The key here is smart, which Palin is not. Look what happened the last time we had a dumb president. The George W. Bush presidency cost us over $11.5 trillion, according to MSN. As a nation, we cannot afford another dumb president, literally and figuratively.

There are no records as to why Palin attended five colleges in six years: Hawaii Pacific University, North Idaho College, Matanuska-Susitna College and University of Idaho.  She changed schools after completing two semesters and each place. She took a year off to compete in the Miss Wasilla and Miss Alaska competitions. She won a scholarship in the beauty pageants but still attended four colleges. I can only speculate that she flunked out each time and finally after six years had accumulated enough credits to receive the degree.

Her major was Communications. The same major as every offensive lineman in the SEC, which manages to graduate just 60% of the players. Here’s a fun fact, the state with the lowest college graduation rate? Alaska.

Papa Bear, Bill O’Reilly asked her if she was smart enough to be president in 2008. Palin responded like someone who attended four colleges in six years, “I believe that I am because I have common sense, and I have, I believe, the values that are reflective of so many other American values. And I believe that what Americans are seeking is not the elitism, the the kind of spineless… a spinelessness that perhaps is made up for that with some kind of elite Ivy League education and a fat resume that’s based on anything but hard work and private sector, free enterprise principles. Americans could be seeking something like that in positive change in their leadership. I’m not saying that has to be me.”

Those spineless, elite Ivy Leaguers like: both Adams, both Roosevelts, Kennedy, Ford, Clinton and both Bushes. For the record, the head of the ticket, John McCain graduated 5th from last at the US Naval Academy, but this column isn’t about him. Incidentally, I graduated 8th in my class from high school. My college records were destroyed in a freak bong accidental fire.

In her book, “Going Rogue” Palin mentions how the McCain camp tried to muzzle her and restrict access to the media. Palin sees this as an insult. It seems to me like it was a planned “stategery” to keep her away from tough questions. She has nothing to say and really wants to say it.

This leads me to the Katie Couric kerfuffle. Palin was asked by the perky one on CBS News, “And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?”

Palin seemed confused and then gave this bon mot: “I’ve read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.”

Couric followed up by asking for specifics and Palin showed her dynamism and brilliance with this memorable quote, “Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years.”

Couric asked her to name a few and Palin couldn’t name one. She went on about how Alaska is a microcosm of America.

I have been on the giving and receiving end of more job interviews than most people have had cookies. “What do you read?” is a common interview question. It is a way of seeing of how the person keeps up with the world around them. It is not a “gotcha” question as Palin suggests in her book. Saying it’s a gotcha question is a great way to deflect the question. How hard is it to say, “Gosh, I really miss the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman and the Juneau Empire”? I do get to read the USA Today every morning, I get it with my complimentary free breakfast and I watch FOX News, you betcha.” To quote the greatest 1980’s teen movie, “Answer the question.”

Qualifications matter to us. A .6824093086926760 term governor of a state that has more moose than people is not qualified. I see ya comin’ and I know what yer gonna say, “but Obama was only a .67 term senator for Illinois.” You are correct, kind of. President Obama is from Illinois, which is more populous than Alaska. Previously, he was a state senator of a district that has 781,037 people and no brown bears. Palin was the mayor of a town 10,256 and twice as many salmon. In fact, Obama’s old district has a greater population than the entire state of Alaska.

While I detested W. I will acknowledge that as governor of Texas, a state larger and more populous that most European countries, he had the qualifications to be president. So did Reagan, Nixon, Bush I and McCain. Palin has no tangible experience for any national elective office.

Her appearance and how she handles the reaction to it is off-putting. She’s a MILF-tease©. She comes off looking like the smart girl who you may have a shot at. She winks, says cutesy things, has those hot librarian glasses, shows some leg & cleavage and has great hair. Yet if you bring any of that up, you’re objectifying her. Sorry Sarah, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t dress and act the way you do, pose in shorts and then blame whomever you can for their treatment of you.

What also hurts in the looks department is her resemblance to Tina Fey. She too comes off looking like the smart girl who you may have a shot at. She winks, says cutesy things, has those hot librarian glasses, shows some leg and cleavage and has great hair. In addition, she waves the liberal banner. When seeing Palin on TV most liberal men think, oh man she’s hot like Tina fey. Then she talks and we want to poke our eyes out for looking and then poke our ears out for listening. It is conflicting and confusing.

Like Gertrude Stein said about Oakland, most of us on the left feel about Palin, “There’s no there there.” She claims to be a feminist yet supports the over-turning of Roe v. Wade and a full ban on abortions. She states the constitution does not guarantee the right to privacy and while she is technically correct, the Bill of Rights has at least six amendments addressing the right to privacy. In addition, there is the landmark case Union Pacific Railway Co. v. Botsford. (That’s why I graduated 8th!)

When asked about immigration on the campaign trail her response was “[I’m] sick to death of this immigration nonsense in the United States.” So a major issue is “nonsense?” What else is nonsense? Health care, jobs, foreign policy? Oh, that’s right, she is a foreign policy expert because Alaska is located so close to Russia. If that’s the logic she uses I would like to point out that I am now an expert on all of DeKalb County, GA because I can see DeKalb from my lanai. Yep, it’s still there and I don’t see than any DeKalbians have tried to seek across into Gwinnett County.

Then there are her views on sex education. In 2006 Palin stated she backed abstinence only sex education. Look where it at got her. If she was such a follower and good-practitioner of that policy, why didn’t it work with her own daughter? If Bristol Bay Palin can’t follow her, how can the nation?

Finally, she’s a quitter. Palin was in office 997 days out of the 1461 she was elected to serve. She quit saying it would be better for that both she and the state have been expending an “insane” amount of time and money to address “frivolous” ethics complaints filed against her. Damn those “gotcha ethics.” This is the US baby; the governor of South Carolina cheated on his wife and charged the trips to Argentina to the taxpayers. He still proclaims his innocence and is fighting impeachment. The US Justice Department spent $50 million to investigate President Clinton and all they found out was that he got a hummer in the Oval Office. If Palin thinks she can quit when the going gets tough she is sadly mistaken.

Sarah Louise Palin is dumb, unqualified, can’t control her children and is a quitter. Why can’t the conservatives see this?

Agree? Disagree? Want to meet me by the bike rack at 3:30? Let me know, your ass is grass and I’m the lawnmower!

One Response to “Why the Left Hates and Fears Sarah Palin”

Ok I will bite. Obama has no real qualification for being President besides popularity and charisma when reading from a teleprompter. She at least was a small town mayor and Governor which does require the ability to manage people, budgets and priorities. That being said both of their resumes are as thin as a rolling paper and in my opinion not that qualified for the position.

The Couric interview was a mess but I wonder if the reason she stumbled over it is two-fold as a Governor and and a mother of six who has time to read a magazine. If she did she was probably struck with fear that any answer besides some ultra-conservative magazine which she probably doesn’t read would be the wrong answer. If she answers Time and Newsweek she would be slammed for reading “liberal” mags, if she says People she seems shallow, if she says Cosmopolitan Keith Olberman that night holds up the latest edition with the phrase “10 ways to a mind-blowing Orgasm” on the cover so then she is a sex-crazed milf and on and on.

Hasn’t the time come to put the Roe vs. Wade argument away. The Supreme Court has been leaning conservative for a good while now yet I have yet to see it overturned or anyone even make a run at bringing it to the Supreme Court.

Dumb, not so sure, bright maybe, but who could tell when she speaks who is listening to what she says. You are mostly thinking where comes the part where she whips off the glasses and unbuttons her shirt. Unqualified no less than the Obama and a better argument could be made that perhaps she was more qualified. Can’t control her kids is a cheap shot, Mr. Letterman. She just had a daughter stupid enough not to have sex but to get pregnant and have a baby.

The real question you should ask yourself is who is the hotter MILF, Sarah Palin or Kate McCarthy?????
